Missoula Marathon Volunteers Have More Fun!

By JERI DELYS

The Missoula Marathon is just weeks away, and the buzz is really starting to hit the streets of Missoula.

It’s a big day for participants, but it is an even bigger day for the marathon committee, staff and the countless volunteers that help bring this great tradition to Missoula.

Marathon weekend starts with the Expo on Saturday from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm at Caras Park. Colleen Smith has organized the Expo the past few years. Colleen has done an exceptional job in making the Expo fun, vibrant, and, of course, well-organized.

It’s really lots of fun to hang out at the Expo, handing out race numbers and visiting with all the participants. In fact, it is so much fun, that when I sent a shout out to all the volunteers that helped at the Expo in past years, my in-box was flooded with people saying, “Yes, count me in!”.

For me, the Marathon is about showing off our community, and I could not ask for a better group of volunteers that share this passion.

It is really fun to walk through the tent and see so many people smiling, sharing race stories, and giving advice and words of encouragement. On Expo day, the energy is contagious.

Warmest thanks to the volunteers that welcome so many participants and truly represent what a great place we are so lucky to call home to.

See you on Saturday, July 7 at Caras Park for the Missoula Marathon Expo!
