New Money Saving App–FAVADO!

By ERIN TURNER
About a year ago, developers launched a new money saving app for the iphone called “Favado”. Now, a year later Consumer Reports is listing Favado among the Best New Apps of 2014. So, I’m glad I discovered it and now this week I want to share it with you. If you’ve been using it already you know firsthand how wonderful this app is for saving money and time!

First of all, Favado is a FREE app–which for me is crucial. I won’t pay for apps. The reviews on the app are all positive and received 5 out of 5 stars. For me the reviews on apps are always important because it is REAL people telling me what works and doesn’t work. And Favado passed my review test with flying colors!

Now, the app can not print from your ipad or iphone so you need to make your list and then email it to yourself in order to print your shopping list and any applicable coupons. I would anticipate printing abilities will be something we might see in this next year as upgrades are developed.

The principle of the app is simple: it saves TIME and MONEY at any of the local stores you shop. You simply pick the stores you shop at and yes, they have lots of choices here in Missoula! Here are the ones I selected:

Rosauers
Costco (yup, can you believe it?!)
Albertsons
Safeway
CVS
Target
Walmart
Walgreens
Winco (this is in Spokane but I love shopping there and like to compare prices to their prices!)

According to the app description Favado, “will help you discover the BEST sale and coupon combinations each week for your local grocery, drug and box stores. You’ll find the freshest sale data from the weekly ad, and if a sale item also has coupons available, Favado will tell you where to find them. This can save you up to 70%–that’s $400 a month for the average family!”

This app will now cut my sales searching each week significantly! Instead of sitting every week, pouring over the weekly grocery ads and trying to keep track of which item is cheaper at which store and what coupon to use where, this app does all that work! I’m so excited to start building my grocery list for next week.

photo 1I really like where it lists all the potential coupons or promotions available for a particular product. It includes online coupons as well as coupons you can cut out of the newspaper inserts. This seriously will save couponers mega time! I’m swooning over this app and all the time and money it is going to save me…and YOU!

So, here is an example of how easy this app will make your life: It’s Thanksgiving week, if you didn’t already know! You want to get the best price on your turkey. Go into the Favado app, pick up to 5 of your favorite local stores, then type in “Turkey” in the search bar and viola! You will have all the prices from those stores before you in a matter of seconds and be able to decide which store has the best deal on turkey and don’t forget to click on any that have the paperclip beside it so you can view the coupons and any promotions available which then lowers the final cost even more.

I can see why this app was named one of the Best of Apps of 2014! All of us who have clipped coupons and spent many hours each week scanning the ads, are rejoicing in the discovery of this time saving application. Now, there really isn’t an excuse not to price shop and use coupons. Favado does it all for you!

For me this discovery comes at a great time of the year, when I am spending more money on groceries with the holidays approaching. It’s perfect, with the money I’m going to save using Favado I can add it to our Christmas gift fund!
