Unplug and Play Missoula

Let’s Move Missoula, Missoula Parks and Recreation, and the Missoula City-County Health Department are encouraging kids and adults to “Unplug and Play!” each spring as part of a global campaign to educate families about the detrimental effects of too much screen time in front of TVs, computers, gaming systems, iPads, and cell phones.

This year’s Unplug and Play Week runs from April 21-April 28. Check out this year’s Unplug and Play Activities Guide (PDF) as well as Missoula Parks and Recreation’s Summer Rec Guide (PDF).

Stomp rockets: One of the many awesome things you can do without a screen.

As an Active Kids project and with the leadership of Missoula Parks and Recreation and the Missoula County Health Department, Unplug and Play has been able to marshal a variety of agencies and groups that are offering screen-free activities throughout the year.

Worldwide celebrations of Screen-Free Week are supported by national organizations including the American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, National Education Association, and President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.

Check out the activities and info for the week, as well as the creative, interesting resources for parents and teachers.
