Expect increased patrols in Missoula Fourth of July weekend
Fourth of July is fast approaching, and as you make plans to celebrate make plans to have a sober ride. The Missoula Police Department is committed to reducing fatalities and serious injuries on Montana’s roadways. That is why this Fourth of July weekend, Missoula law enforcement agencies and the Montana Highway Patrol will be increasing patrols across Montana and making DUI arrests to ensure everyone gets home safely.
It is illegal to drive in Montana with a BAC (blood alcohol content) of .08 or higher, and the consequences include a DUI charge, having your driver’s license revoked, mandatory classes, possible jail time, and up to $10,000 in fines and legal fees.
“It is every driver’s responsibility to plan a sober ride, whether that means having a designated driver, calling a cab, ordering a ride share, or offering a sober ride to others if you’re not drinking,” said Sgt. Hebert. “Live to celebrate another year. Plan a sober ride, and always buckle up.”
Each of us can have a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July by simply planning to have a sober ride. When you plan a sober ride and buckle up, you protect yourself and your fellow Montanans.
