Increased Patrols in Missoula Over St. Patrick’s Day Weekend

St. Patrick’s Day is here and it’s a wonderful time to celebrate the wearing of the green! Alcoholic drinks are a mainstay of many St. Patrick’s Day festivities, but don’t count on the luck of the Irish to get home safely after celebrating. Here are some tips to stay safe while celebrating this weekend:

  • Plan ahead for a designated driver, ride share, or taxi to arrive home safely.
  • If you host a celebration, make sure you take care of your designated drivers by offering non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Call 9-1-1 to report suspected impaired drivers
  • Always wear a seatbelt. Everyone should buckle up every trip, every time. There is no good excuse not to.
  • And remember, friends don’t let friends drive drunk!

Local and state law enforcement agencies are committed to reducing fatalities and serious injuries on Montana’s roadways. The Missoula Police Department will be increasing patrols over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend and making DUI arrests to ensure everyone gets home safely.

Wear the green and celebrate, but plan on a sober ride and always buckle up.
