Fort Missoula Regional Park Phase 2 Grand Opening Slated for July 26

By BECKY GOODRICH

The public is invited to the Fort Missoula Regional Park Phase II Grand Opening celebration on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 6 to 10 p.m. This fun family event includes tours, games, sports, live music, food, crafts and much more! A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held in the Meadowlark shelter at 6:30 p.m.

The grand opening celebration was originally scheduled for June 28. Construction is on schedule, but due to higher than average precipitation and lower than average temperatures last fall and this spring, the turf grass needs more time to become established before the park opens.

The Missoula Softball Association is hosting a free community picnic, softball tournament and home run derby in the FMRP softball complex on Friday, June 29. Visit www.missoulasoftball.com for details.

FMRP Grand Opening Celebration sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are available.  For more information about sponsoring this exciting community event, contact Ryan Yearous, Sports and Wellness Recreation Supervisor, 406-552-6266, ryearous@ci.missoula.mt.us.

Reservations for Phase 1 facilities are in full swing, with several large sports tournaments already on the books. The Bella Vista pavilion is also in high demand as a desirable venue for weddings, parties and special events of all types.  Please call 721-PARK (7275) to inquire about availability of Bella Vista field, pavilion or any other park facility.
