Parks and Recreation Sponsors Christmas Ever-Green Tree Recycling Program

Missoula Parks and Recreation’s Urban Forestry Division is inviting citizens to drop off their cut Christmas trees to be recycled into productive mulch with the Christmas Ever-Green program. Last year, the program recycled over 10,000 trees, conserving valuable landfill space.

Resident may drop their trees, sans tree stands and decorations, at McCormick or Playfair parks through January 15, 2018.  Due to construction at Fort Missoula Regional Park, the Fort Missoula recycling site is closed this season. Please do not leave yard waste or garbage at drop sites.

Bring out your dead!

These trees will eventually become the compost that you put on your garden where you grow the cucumbers that you use to make pickles that you’ll give out jars of as Christmas gifts next year. Mind blowing, isn’t it?

If you’d like to support Christmas Ever-Green and help plant more trees throughout Missoula, please consider making a donation to Trees For Missoula. Donate online at the Friends of Missoula Parks website, phone 721-PARK, stop by Currents Aquatics Center in McCormick Park, or mail donations to the Urban Forestry Division, 100 Hickory St., Missoula, 59801.
