MCT’s Fall Season of Fun for Kids!

Hakuna matata! Grab your golden ticket because it’s going to be a fall of musical theatre adventures with the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT). With exciting performing arts classes and Theatre for Young Audiences, MCT is where your child can discover the magic of theatre!

Classes begin on the African Savannah on Tuesday, Sept. 5 for Disney’s The Lion King, Jr. While these classes are specifically geared for grades 6-9, the performances that will take place the first weekend in October will be enjoyed by all ages. The fantastic characters and music of this Disney classic that you know and love, including Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa, will be brought to life on the MCT stage.

Grades K-5 will have their turn in the ‘scrumpdidilyumptious’ spotlight when classes begin Tuesday, Oct. 10 for Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Kids. Charlie, a golden ticket, a chocolate factory, and an array of colorful characters and memorable music will make these classes “Pure Imagination” and pure fun! Performances will be Nov. 10-11.

Fall classes meet Tuesday-Thursday for a month and culminate into performances. Participants audition for and receive roles first week of class. Musical theatre skills are taught through active rehearsals in preparation for the performances on the MCT stage. MCT’s core mission, the development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts, is seamlessly woven into the performing arts classes.

Cinderella! Cinderella!, a hilarious new twist on the fairy-tale classic, is MCT’s annual Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) offering. TYA is professional theatre featuring adult actors and specifically produced for K-8 audiences. With the help of friends, meek Cinderella finds her way to solutions for her problems with her mean-spirited stepsisters. Performances will be Sept. 14 & 15.
