The World of Broadway at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts

By MICHELL NIGH

Over the past year, the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) has worked with approximately 65,000 kids from all over the world. Of those kids, hundreds auditioned for MCT’s summer Performing Arts Camps. From that group, nearly 200 kids were chosen to perform in this year’s camp and production of The World of Broadway. This amazing showcase of young talent will take place Thurs., Aug. 10-Sat., Aug. 12 at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts.

The World of Broadway will take the audience across the globe, visiting well-known musicals that unfold in countries from around the world, including Russia and Vietnam.  The showcase is the culmination of two weeks of intensive instruction under the guidance of MCT’s creative staff. The campers spend 10 days at Flathead Lake rehearsing: learning music, dance steps, and auditioning for solo spots in the production. The day before the showcase opens, the cast returns to Missoula to stage the show at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre is delighted that this is the largest group in the 39 years of Performing Arts Camp history. It’s quite thrilling to see the skilled young performers commanding the MCT stage. The World of Broadway awaits you!
