Youth and Family Programs

MORE Family Adventures: Join Parks and Recreation for these exhilarating family adventures. Kids under 10 are free with adult registration; limit 2 free kids per adult. Fee includes instruction, equipment, and transportation. Bitterroot River Float meets Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The registration fee is $36, or $30 with resident discount. Bitterroot Bike Trail Tour meets Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the registration fee is $44, or $36 with resident discount.

MOBASH Skateboard Team, ages 7 to 14, meets Tuesdays, 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Oct. 4 through 25. From beginner to pro, we will meet your child at his or her skill level and help them progress to the next level. All equipment provided. Registration fee is

$43, or $36 with resident discount.

Fall Afterschool Tennis for ages 5 to 17, 4-week session begins Oct. 4, meets at Playfair Park. All levels welcome. Registration fee is $50, or $40 with resident discount. Adult lessons are also available.

High School Prep Tennis Lessons and Match Play for ages 12 to 18, 4-week session begins Oct. 3, lessons meet Mondays,

5:45 to 6:45 p.m. at Playfair Park. Match play meets Wednesdays, 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. Advance your skills, work on those critical shots, and learn strategy for that competitive edge. Regular fee is $35, $25 with resident discount.

currentskidsSwim lessons at Currents, new session begins Oct. 10, for ages 6 mos. through adult. Learn this important life skill. Days and times vary; convenient evening and Saturday classes are available.

Currents Swim Squad, for ages 6 and up, meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:25 p.m. to 5:25 p.m. A fun introduction to competitive swimming; kids will refine their skills and build endurance. Join any time; purchase a 10-session punch card for $30, or $25 with resident discount.

Currents Date Night, for ages 7 and up, meets Oct. 7, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Parents can take the night off as kids enjoy games, crafts, dinner and swimming. Registration fee is $10 per child. Ages 7 and up, please. Date nights are also offered Nov. 4 and Dec. 2.

Folf in the Parks, challenging but kid-friendly 9-hole courses in a different city park each week through Oct. 25. Beginners and experienced players welcome. Bring your own discs or borrow ours. Folf meets Tuesday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m.

Super Sprouts Sports Skills, for ages 3 to 5, meets Fridays, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at McCormick Park. Register anytime. Registration fee is $40 or $32 with resident discount for a 7-week session.

Fall Family Fest, Oct. 22, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., McCormick Park. Old-fashioned harvest festival for all ages with active games, crafts, pumpkin hunt, hayrides, face painting, food and drink vendors and more. $1 suggested donation supports youth recreation scholarships.

Discovery Corp Afterschool Camp, grades K-5, meets weekdays. The program includes after school pickup at five local schools, but kids from all schools are welcome. Activities include ropes course, climbing wall, field trips, skateboarding, mountain biking, swimming, hiking and more. Eight-week sessions start at $162. Pricing information is available at missoulaparks.org. Register now or sign up for the next session beginning Oct. 31.

Jr. Playmakers Basketball, for boys and girls grades 2 – 5, league runs Nov. 4 to Feb. 26. Program emphasizes skill building, fun, fair play and good sportsmanship. Register by Oct. 23, $125 per player or $100 per player with resident discount. New competitive league for boys in grades 4-5.

Adult/Teen

Currents Inner-Tube Water Polo league for adults, meets Sundays, Oct. 2 to Nov. 20, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. No experience necessary for this fun co-rec league. Register by Sept. 29, registration fee is $80 per team.

Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course, ages 16 and up, meets Nov. 2-21. Learn to become a professional swim instructor. Details at missoulaparks.org.

Currents Aquacize and Lap Swim 20-yard lap lanes are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. Aquacize meets Monday through Saturday, morning and evening classes available. Regular admission fees apply.

Missoula Movers Coffee Walks, Mondays through Nov. 28, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Meet your friends for a different trail each week and coffee at a local shop after. Registration fee is $5 per walk, includes transportation and drinks.

Yoga In the Parks meets Tuesdays, Oct. 4 to Nov. 8, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Currents meeting room. Class is suitable for ages 12 and up and all skill levels. Registration fee is $24, or $19 with resident discount. Next session begins Nov. 15.

Adult Fall Flag Football, begins Oct. 16, 5-week officiated league meets Thursdays at McCormick Park. Register by Oct. 9, fee is $275 per team or $300 beginning Oct. 10. The league includes men’s and co-rec divisions.

Adult Fall Indoor Soccer begins the week of Oct. 16, meets Sunday, Monday or Wednesday evenings. Register by Oct. 9, fee is $175, or $200 beginning Oct. 10. The six-week, co-rec league is officiated.

Pickleball Learn-To-Play clinics, ages 12 and up, meets Oct. 22 or Nov. 5, 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Parks Sports and Wellness Center, 1515 Fairview. Registration fee is $5 per participant. Clinics offered monthly.

Pickleball Co-Rec Doubles Ladder League, ages 12 to adult, register by Oct. 5. Meets Oct. 8 to Dec. 17, Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Registration fee is $35 per participant. Pickleball clinics, league, open play and tournament schedules are at missoulaparks.org.

Fall Family Fest Wood Carving Contest, Oct. 22, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., McCormick Park. Pick up your 12” cottonwood log from Currents Aquatics Center starting Oct. 3 and display your creation at Fall Family Fest on Oct. 22. Prizes for top three places. $20 log deposit to enter.
