Winter Carnival and Snow Races at Marshall Mountain

Join Missoula Parks and Recreation’s for the first annual Marshall Mountain Winter Carnival and Snowshoe/Ski Races on Saturday, February 22 at Marshall Mountain, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event features a free winter carnival for all ages, plus snowshoe and Nordic ski races starting at 11 a.m.  The carnival includes fun family activities and information booths, avalanche and snow safety programs with the West Central Avalanche Center, adaptive sports demonstrations with U.S. Paralympic hopefuls, dog sledding demos, food and beverages, live music and more.  There is a free hourly shuttle to the Winter Carnival from McCormick Park, 600 Cregg Lane, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

DocumentThe Marshall Mountain Classic races include 1-mile, 1.5-mile and 3-mile snowshoe races for youth and adults, and a 1.5-mile cross-country ski race for youth, adults, and a sit-ski division. Race entries include a Buff™ multi-functional ski cap and a swag bag of goodies.  Register for the races at www.active.com or at Currents Aquatics Center. Parks and Recreation is offering a snowshoe training class for the race beginning on Saturday, January 24. Call 721-PARK or stop by Currents to register.
