UM School of Theatre & Dance Presents: Dance Up Close 2014

The UM School of Theatre & Dance invites you into the Masquer Theatre to be seated in close proximity to the dancers so that each detail can be seen, each breath can be heard, and each movement of the dancers can be felt. The edge between performer and audience is blurred, creating a rich experience for the audience.

This annual black-box showcase features original works in two alternating programs and provides audiences with a chance to see work of emerging and established dance artists in an intimate setting–The Masquer is a theatre in the round.

Approximately 250 seats are available for each performance. The setting allows the audience to experience dance up close and personal. With three different seating angles possible, the audience members will experience a slightly different feel from each dance.

In addition to the student choreographed dances, faculty member Heidi Jones Eggert and Missoula professional Jes Mullette will present a piece they have choreographed. Joy French of Missoula’s Bare Bait Dance will also have a dance she choreographed in Program One. Two seniors, Ellie Weinman and Arina Hunter are each presenting works in progress that are part of their senior projects. These will be developed over the year and presented in the spring.
