Auditions for Jekyll and Hyde The Musical

The Missoula Community Theatre is holding auditions for the production of Jekyll & Hyde The Musical on Sunday, August 31st at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts.  Those wanting to audition may arrive anytime between 12:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., using the Main Street entrance.

There are approximately 20 roles for men and women in the production and all of the roles are available for men and women ages 18 and older.  There are no roles for children.  The dates of the production are October 30-November 2, and November 5-9, 2014.

Joseph Martinez (MCT’s Artistic Director) will direct this production and music will be under the direction of Dr. David Cody from the School of Music at the University of Montana.  No previous experience is necessary in order to audition, but the music score is filled with rock and classical music that requires the performers to be strong singers.

Jekly and hydeOne number, “This is the Moment,” has been performed by over 1,000 artists and presented at numerous Olympic ceremonies, the Superbowl, World Series, and a presidential inauguration.

Jekyll & Hyde The Musical is a gothic tale, based on a Robert Louis Stevenson classic about the battle between good and evil.  Dr. Henry Jekyll unwittingly unleashes his own dark side, wreaking havoc in the streets of London as the savage, maniacal Mr. Edward Hyde.

The Broadway production was nominated for the “Best Book of a Musical” and also received a number of Tony Awards and other accolades.  This dark musical contains violence and adult situations; the themes and intensity are not suitable for children.
