Someone who has or is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in ecology, forestry, environmental conservation or a related field is needed. This job requires someone with a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record who can be insurable for the company. Reliable transportation and a background check are required. Employees must have red card or yellow card certificates, pack test certificates and their own safety gear, fire-fighting boots, sleeping bag and tent. Those without proper certification will be directed to a training schedule. Camp crews set up and take down camps and provide support for everyone; spots are limited for this job and pay varies. Firefighters will fight fires in the northwestern states. Duties are on the engine crew, providing water to the hand crew, structure protection and general fire suppression activities.
