Run For the Luck of It

By HILLARY OGG

Are you feeling lucky?  Do you feel the need to dress head to toe in Kelly green?  Do you go for a run and hope someone has delicious stew and brew ready for you when you’re done?  Yes? !? Come on down to Sean Kelly’s on Saturday morning and run the Run For The Luck Of It!  There’s a race distance for everyone – a Kid’s dash, at 8:45, a 7-miler, at 9:00, and a 5K, at 9:30.

Running with the green has never been more fun – this race has prizes for top finishers, but even better, prizes for COSTUMES!  All finishers receive after race goodies – Irish stew and soda bread from Sean Kelly’s, non-alcoholic drinks, from Culligan & Pepsi, and ONE FREE BEER (with valid ID), compliments of Missoula Brewing Co. and Bayern Brewery.  And, in case you’ve ever thought to yourself, “self, I really need an unbreakable pint glass…because all those lame glass pint glasses…pshaw…they just break!”  You’re in LUCK!  Registered racers will each receive their very own commemorative green Silipint.

For those who have already registered, packet pickup is available Friday, from 12 – 7, in the basement of the Runner’s Edge (304 N. Higgins), or Saturday, from 7 – 8-30 a.m.  If you haven’t registered…what the heck are you thinking?!?!?!?  Come on down to packet pickup and get signed up.

So, let’s sum it up: you get to run, outside, in maybe your first race of the spring…you get to wear green or even better, a costume…and then you get plied with excellent Irish fare after you’re done.  Just one of those is a win on any level!

Slainte – see you at the start!
