Celebrate Arbor Month with 22nd Annual Run for the Trees April 12

Register by April 5, 2014 for Early Bird Discount

Missoula’s urban forest needs you!  Celebrate National Arbor Month with a fun walk or run along the Riverfront trail system.  Missoula Parks and Recreation’s 22nd annual Run for The Trees is Saturday, April 12, at 9 a.m.  Enter the 1-mile fun run, 5k run/walk or the new 10k race. Proceeds help plant new trees in parks, boulevards and schools.

In honor of Missoula’s 26th consecutive Tree City USA award, all racers receive a free tree seedling to plant and a race t-shirt. Participants are also eligible for race awards and exciting door prizes. Run For The Trees is fun for the whole family, with “education stations” with Smokey Bear, REI, Bear Aware and the Wild Raptor Clinic.  The new 10k route includes the Montana’s state arboretum on the University of Montana campus. The untimed 1-mile Fun Run for all ages begins at 11:30 a.m.   To learn more, check out the Run For The Trees video starring local evergreens and Mayor John Engen!

Registration is $20 for ages 13 and up and $15 for youth 12 and under if registered by Friday, April 5.  Late registration, April 6 through April 11, is $25 and $20.  Race day registration is $30. Register at Currents Aquatics Center or online at www.active.com.  Registration forms are available at Currents or runforthetrees.org
