Who We Are
Habitat for Humanity of Missoula is a non-profit, ecumenical, Christian housing ministry dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing in our community and throughout the world. The Missoula affiliate was established in 1991 and is celebrating its 22nd anniversary in February 2013. We have just completed our 45th home and will be building our 46th homes in the 2013 building season.
How it Works
Habitat partners with eligible families who complete a minimum of 500 Sweat Equity Hours and work alongside volunteers to build their houses. Families are selected based on Need, Ability to Pay, Willingness to Partner, and Residency. Find out more about applying for selection.
Habitat homes are funded with local donations and grants. Ninety percent of financial donations to Habitat for Humanity of Missoula are spent on program services, buying land, constructing homes, and nurturing our partner families. Only 10 percent was spent on management and fundraising. Habitat for Humanity of Missoula does not receive any Federal funding or funds from Habitat International.
It is the dedication of Habitat’s many volunteers that make these homes possible. Volunteers come from a wide variety of groups, including churches, businesses, civic groups, athletic teams, and other organizations. We also work with the local youth court to help youth learn useful skills and self respect. In addition, many people volunteer on a regular basis during the week. Learn how you can get involved.
Got Stuff? We Want it. Donate to the Habitat ReStore. Habitat’s ReStore sells new and gently-used home improvement goods, furniture, building materials and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. The proceeds are used to fund Habitat for Humanity of Missoula’s affordable home-ownership program, ensure people have access to affordable materials to maintain and improve their homes and to divert usable materials from the landfills.
