Make sure you have all of the materials you need to enroll your child in school, like a copy of the birth certificate and immunization records, before you try to register them.

Enroll in Missoula Schools

Kids changing schools this year? When enrolling children in a new school, the following information will help students new to the Missoula County Public Schools (MCPS) complete enrollment as seamlessly as possible.

The following information is specific to the Missoula County School District. Although enrollment procedures are fairly consistent in surrounding districts as well, parents enrolling children in other local school districts are encouraged to consult the respective district’s website or to call the school directly.

Not sure which school your child should attend? Refer to the MCPS school boundary maps.

Elementary and Middle School Enrollment

All MCPS elementary and middle schools open for student registration in late August. During the summer, parents who are enrolling students in grades K-8 can obtain registration materials at the District’s Administration Building.

Parents registering elementary or middle school students should bring the following items to registration:

  • Child’s birth certificate, or a copy of the child’s birth certificate
  • Child’s immunization records, or State of Montana Certificate of Immunization (blue form). Please review immunization requirements to insure the child is fully immunized.
  • Name and address of previous school attended (if applicable)
  • A utility or phone bill that shows proof of physical address

High School Enrollment

Big Sky, Hellgate, and Sentinel High Schools are open Monday through Thursday during the summer. For more information about specific dates for high school registration and parent meetings, contact each high school directly.

New high school students should bring the following items with them to registration:

  • Child’s birth certificate, or a copy of the child’s birth certificate
  • Child’s immunization records, or State of Montana Certificate of Immunization (blue form). Please review immunization requirements to insure the child is fully immunized.
