Full-time jobs are available for general laborers who can learn and become proficient at production, sanding, shipping, and finishing work. Requirements include the ability to sweep and shovel sawdust and wood shavings into cleanup hoppers, the ability to climb ladders and work in enclosed spaces, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. A high-school diploma or equivalent is required, along with basic computer literacy, basic math skills, and the ability to read a tape measure. A full-time manual machinist earns $19 per hour at a Missoula manufacturing business. This job consists of manual machining plastic material into custom components. It requires setting up and operating manual lathes, mills, routers, drill presses, planers, and more. Required is two years’ education and three years’ experience machining or an equivalent combination of education and experience, along with accurate reading, math, and measuring skills. It requires constant standing and continuous movement with two 10-minute breaks and a half-hour lunch. Applicants must be able to work overtime, weekends, and in rough weather. Employers will work up to 14 hours per day and up to 7 days a week during the busy construction season. This job requires traveling for extended periods of time to various jobsite locations. Needed is a well-rounded worker with construction experience in drywall, paint, finish carpentry, and general construction, and with a good knowledge of all tools.
