The Pimps of Joytime play the Top Hat Lounge 8/20 @ 9PM

The Pimps of Joytime (FUNK/ELECTRONIC) at the Top Hat Lounge
9PM
Tickets: $15, or $12 in advance
Description:
Top Hat Entertainment presents genre defying, Brooklyn-bred The Pimps of Joytime. Anyone familiar with the Pimps of Joytime live experience knows the feeling–that moment when a deep bluesy groove morphs into a full-on EDM dance beat, or the sensation when their wide-eyed audience collectively elevates in sync with the band’s tangible energy. You might accurately call this Brooklyn-bred quintet a ‘post-genre’ band; they’re a group whose sound–even within a single song–mirrors the diversity of our era’s wide musical tastes, like mashing up ’70s funk with a house beat, or memorable hooks infused with three part vocal harmonies. It all goes into the Pimps’ pot, over a soulful roux of rhythm and groove.

The combination of singer songwriters Susan Gibson, Tom Catmull, Jenn Adams and John Floridis. These four singer songwriters began their careers in Missoula, Montana in the early and mid 1990’s at the dawn of the movement toward independently produced CD’s and recordings. Though they’ve all pursued their paths individually, they’ve frequently shared billing with one another, recorded together and even occasionally played in each other’s bands. Two years ago they joined each other on stage for the first time, and the show was so well received they’ve made it a yearly event.
