A safety officer in Missoula provides technical support and assistance to the site manager and management team. Duties include evaluating safety and health programs to identify areas that require attention, maintaining the site’s safety recordkeeping, developing a training matrix and tracks compliance, and conducting weekly safety inspections of the facilities. Other work includes maintaining a current cumulative corrective action log, assisting incident investigation teams, and ensuring that incident reports are thorough and that root causes, corrective action, and lessons learned have been determined. This job requires at least three years of safety and health experience, a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health or a closely related field, BCSP/ABIH certification or joint accreditations, and knowledge of local, state, and federal safety and health regulations.
