Girls Empowerment Program Seeks Summer Participants

YWCA Missoula’s GUTS (Girls Using Their Strengths)! program is looking for girls age 9 – 18 to fill Summer Outdoor Adventure trips. Outdoor Adventures are designed to develop leadership skills utilizing recreation and discovery as catalysts. Trips are generally for six days and incorporate several outdoor skills such as backpacking, canoeing and biking, while introducing participants to the GUTS! leadership method.

GUTS! trips are led by qualified women instructors who help to empower girls by increasing their self-confidence, helping to hone their individual strengths and cultivating their appreciation for the natural world in an environment free from societal pressures.

Applications are due Friday, May 1 and are available at www.ywcaofmissoula.org. For more information, call the YWCA at 543-6691 or email Roe, rerin@ywcaofmissoula.org.

GUTS! encourages young women to explore their personal values and discover their strengths through summer wilderness adventures and during the school year through after-school groups and community service.
