Activities for Kids in Missoula: The Missoula Taekwondo Center

By KIM S.

In a building off South Avenue here in Missoula is a unique opportunity for you and your children to learn the art of Taekwondo. Upon visiting the Missoula Taekwondo Center I was instantly drawn to the smiles behind the counter, and the calm energy of the parents who sat patiently watching their little ones learn the Five Tenets (Modesty, Perseverance, Self Control, Indomitable Spirit, and Etiquette) in between strategic kicks and exercises.

After putting on her uniform Strawberry Shortcake was welcomed onto the mat for her first class which included warm up games, learning to count in Korean while stretching, and then a lesson taught by Master Rosbarsky himself and two Black Belt students of the MTC.

Throughout the lesson Strawberry Shortcake and I exchanged many looks where I was accessing her comfort level and interest. Each time I saw her little smile and a little wave. We were instantly hooked!

After several weeks of watching her sister practice and become more comfortable with the sport Tinker Bell requested an opportunity and promised she would give it 100%.

In between schoolwork and playing with Dolls or Trucks we now find our crew practicing their kicks and teaching little brother how to count to 5 in Korean.

After seeing my kids joy and excitement for this sport, I have to be honest it has Mom interested in joining a ladies class!!
