Mark Your Calendars for the 2014 Griz Got Talent and Monte Awards

The University of Montana Department of Athletics and Copper Connection will host the newly expanded Griz Got Talent and Monte Awards on Tuesday, April 29, at 7 p.m. in the West Auxiliary Gym of the Adams Center. This is the third year the talent showcase will be held.

The talent and awards show, which will feature Griz student-athletes showing off their hidden talents, is a fundraiser for Copper Connection.

For over 25 years Copper Connection has provided support for the Montana women’s basketball team and UM’s Olympic sports of volleyball, soccer, cross country, tennis, golf and track and field. The teams are provided snacks for out of town trips, support for tournaments and help with purchasing needed equipment.

The newly added Monte Awards, a brainchild of UM’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, will acknowledge the achievements of student-athletes in categories such as Best Breakout Athlete, Best Comeback from Injury and Best Team/Griz Spirit.

The biggest awards of the night will be the Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior of the Year. This award will recognize a student-athlete from each class based on their athletic achievements over the previous year, as well as their academic achievements and volunteer service within the community.

Tickets for the event are $8 for adults and $3 for seniors and youth under the age of 18. UM students can attend free of charge with a valid Griz Card.

Tickets are available at the Grizzly Scholarship Association office in the Adams Center and can also be purchased at the door the night of the event.
