A sleep technologist position comes with extensive training by the employer. Preferred applicants will have a high-school diploma or equivalent and medical licensure or certifications relating to medicine or health (LPN, RN, EMT or RT). Candidates must be able to operate a computer and basic office equipment, be able to multi-task, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality. Light travel may be required. The technologist will normally work three 12-hour shifts per week, from 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Additional hours may be necessary. Training wage is $12 per hour or more, depending on qualifications. It is physically demanding, requiring applicants to pass an arduous fitness test that includes completing a three-mile hike within 45 minutes while carrying a 45-pound pack. This requires education, training, and experience in development and marketing activities, non-profit administration, public relations and event management. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Strong fund-raising experience, proficiency in Windows software and social networks, and excellent communication and organizational skills are required, along with a valid driver’s license. Some in-state travel is required. Duties include raising funds, writing grants, public relations, publications, marketing, communications, volunteers and special events.
