A Missoula youth program is seeking a Summer Program Counselor. This is a seasonal position and requires a high school degree and two years of post-secondary study in social science or a closely-related field. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and the ability and endurance to care for disturbed young children. The work environment is high in emotional, physical and mental stress with extraordinary activity and noise levels. Applicants need knowledge of laws and policies on confidentiality and reporting child abuse and neglect as well as a working knowledge of child development. The Counselor will perform routine cleaning, prepare and serve food, and assist in group activities. She or he will also follow children’s treatment plans and provide safe transportation. The Counselor will work 40 hours per week, day shift, including holidays. He or she will also attend camp at Flathead Lake in August and the hours and shifts will vary during that week. A local educational organization is seeking to hire a full-time Director. This position requires a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent work in related field. Applicants must possess expertise in early childhood development, including knowledge of progressive education. The employer requires that applicants have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as proficiency in interpersonal relations. As a leadership role, the Director must have sound judgment. The employer requires that applicants have extensive experience with childhood education, demonstrated success in financial management, and familiarity with early childhood mindfulness educational practices. The Director will provide organizational and educational leadership for the school. He or she will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and operation of the facility and work collaboratively with the Board of Directors, teachers, staff, and volunteers to provide students with an educational experience in accordance with the school’s mission. This is a full time position. Work days and hours would typically be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with attendance at outside activities as needed.
